question about sfc's. HELP ME OUT HERE!

ok I was just making some measurments for my subframe connectors, and was wondering what people normally make them out of. Ive seen people use angle and the like, but I was thinking of trying flatstock, for clearance issues. If I go with a piece of 1 3/4"x1/2" flat steel, do you think that would give me enough rigidity? And I am going to make "ears" for it so that it bolts to the seat bolts as well. And I am welding them in.
So what do you think?

Stong enough for what? Yes it will make a difference I am sure, but how it woudl compare to tubular or boxed setups, I can't say. I guess it also depends on the steel itself.

Why not go with regular boxed style frame connectors? I personally wouldn't waste my time with the flat stock your talking about. If your worried about clearance THAT much, and have cutting/welding skills, then maybe you should look into through-the-floor frame connectors.

Werd!

In floors are the way to go if you are worried about clearance, the guys at www.dprsocal.com have done several sets. Email them for more info, they might have pics too.
