I just bought a 99 GT, it is dropped 1.5" and right now has the bullet 18x9 wheels...When i bought the car it came with brand new tires, which were 245/40/18, kumho ecstas, decent tires. Problem is that my rim sticks out 1/2 an inch bc the tire isnt wide enough.. GRRR! So my question is, wat is the largest tire i can fit on my car without rubbing, the owner seemed to think this was as big as it would go, but I HIGHLY doubt that!... THANKS GUYS!

Actually, that is the ideal tire size to not have to adjust the speedometer. You may want to push to a 265 width if it annoys you that bad.

That's the same reason I went with a 275 on my 17x8's.
I friend of mine bought a set of chrome cobra rims (17x9) and put the stock rubber (245) right back on them. I week later the rims had curb marks.
Now I know what someone is going to say "learn how to park" but sometimes it's hard to aviod. I rub once in a while because I might be on a narrow street and want to get as far off the road as possible. But since I have 275's the worst thing to happen is rubbing a little tire shine off.

i have 18x9's with 265/35/18 (for minimal front rubbing), and 275/35/18 in rear (same diameter as stock so speedometer isn't affected).
