question about trick flow top end kit

this has probably been asked a million times before, but is the trickflow top end kit the best rout to go for a daily driver street car? or part it together with the usual gt40 heads upper and lower, cam ect... is it truly a bang for the buck deal?

I went through this the other day with a thread I started. As far as I've seen( few buddies have and are still running it). I was gonna do my own combo but other smacked me around and got me straight. My car is also a daily driver, and so are my buddies. There cars are alot more fun to drive than my b cammed gt40 combo. Overall they run smoother and seem to be a little more reliable. Only reason I was looking away from the package deal was I wanted something different. But for the sake of simplicity and time/effort/headaches I will also be doing the TFS thing... Stock short block till next year. Then a 331 and a little more cam than the stage 1

it would be a good setup for a daily driver but if you shop around you could probly put together a better combo for a little less money

depends on how much effort you wanna put into it. Buy it and know it will work, or spend a bit of time and research another combo that might be a better depending on your plans for the car

It is hard to put all those parts together cheaper, the kit is a good deal and perfect for a stock or 327/347 stroker shortblock. If I use the kit on a stroker I usually swap for the Track Heat intake and stage II cam.

i would think that this kit would be to small for a 331 or 347.

We did the homework for you and all the parts are in the kit. They make great daily drivers. If you have any question let me know.

I've been thinking about a TFS top end kit recently. But I still need over $1200 in supporting mods. I think I'd like to pull the the motor and the front clip, then have someone paint the engine bay while I put the motor back together.

Is the Stage 1 cam mild as far as driveability?
What's better - the Street or Track Heat?
What injector size would be good?

The stage I cam has very good street manners. I would recommend the Track Heat intake and 24lb injectors.

I had the TF top end on my daily driver 89 vert. The car ran flawlessly on the street. Car ran high 12's at Bristol Dragway. I put 40k on the kit and because of recent economy,I sold my heads and intake. I just rebuilt the short block and now looking for some good iron heads to add to a ported stock intake and add a On3 turbo. The TFS kit is excellent value and top quality parts.

I have the top end kit minus the intake with ste stage 1 cam and i found a NOS GT-40 Tube intake cause i wanted to make the car look like it did back in the day. i know i gave up a little hp but it made 291rwhp and 324rwtq.
And it has awesome street manners and a blast to drive. And it has a nice lobe to the idle to.

will the kit pass a sniffer test. with smog pump and cats on the car.
here in new mexico we need the test. it's not as hard as in cali but still a pain.

i could just pay off the tech by slipping him a 50 but it would be easer if it passes on it's own

I had a customer make 340RWHP with that kit (trackheat intake, stage II cam) with only 8.5:1 compression. It makes good power and while I like some other combos better the kit is hard to beat if your on a budget....it definitly works.

If all your smog equipment is present and operational,the kit will pass sniffer.
