i plan on installing the X-303 cam in my 347 this weekend and i was thinking about installing at 2 degrees retarted if i have the valve clearance of coarse :D

i wanted to find out from people here have installed there X-cam and how there doing with it installed that way.

can someone also explain to me what exactly retarding or advancing this cam will do for me? :hail2:

the 347 is a CHP 10.5 :1 short block with 64 cc heads----i have 58cc heads

i have
RPM heads 2.02/1.60's
2500 art carr stall/ AOD trans
edelbrock rpm intake (dual plane carbed)
4.11 with trac -loc 9"
running et streets at the track

Thats what I would like to know, I have an X cam in my room waiting. Not to many people give a good solid responce to the X - Cam. Most of them say "get a custom cam" or " get the E - Cam" My buddy is putting the cam in for me, I should ask him. Just make sure you do the clay test. I talked to another kid at the track one night, he messed up his car pretty good with a 4* advanced X. Good luck with any helpful responces!

If it's 10.5:1 with 64cc heads, the 58cc heads you're talking about will give you about 11.25:1 compression.

Don't know if you know it, the X cam is ground for 5 degrees BTDC. That means if you install the cam straight up it'll be retarded 5 degrees. That's if I'm understadning things correctly.

oh crap, really?

Yes, really. :D

The timing events are exactly the same as the B303 but with .542" lift (w/ 1.6:1 rockers) instead of .480" (w/ 1.6:1 rockers).

B303/X303 Timing Events:
Intake Open 5 BTC
Intake Close 39 ABC

Exhaust Open 49 BBC
Exhaust Close 5 BTC

Both with 107/117 degree int & exh centerlines and 112 lobe seperations.

so if i install it at (0) then it should make power to 6500rpms but will be a little slow off the line due to my 2500 stall speed?

if i advance it should help off the line, but will also redline faster...is this correct?

thanks for the help
