One of my friends just got a 1998 GT vert auto. He was telling me that the 98 4.6's had more power and were faster than the 96-97 4.6's. I was wondering if there was any truth to this? If so what are the differences?
The difference is 96-97's have 215 hp and the 98's have 225. I've never driven in a 98 so I can't tell you if you can feel a difference between the two.
well there are a bunch of things different on the 98's. it was a switching over year, to help accomadate the new body style, so there is a lot. & the 96-97's did have 215, the 98's had 225. if there is something more specific you want to know, please specify

i have rode in both and actually raced mine with my friend 98 when they were both bone stock and there is about a half to 3/4's of a car length difference in speed, but when riding in the i could never tell.

With your friends car being an auto and vert...that extra 10 horsepower is not going to help him...the added power was based on a little different computer tuning to help on the exhaust side in the motor...
