Questions about Fox TB and cruise conv

I know that there are tons and tons of posts regarding the Fox throttle conversion but there isnt much on the cruise. I have an idea but I dont know if this will work. I am planning on converting my 94 to fox and retain cruise. Last night I pulled off my fender because I wanted to see how everything was hooked up. I removed the cruise setup and noticed to nuts on the back. After removing the nuts I found that the cable actually comes off the cruise. Why cant this cruise cable be taken out and exchanged for the 86-93 cable?? Has anyone tried this? I know of a guy that is sending me his throttle body, cable, cruise setup and cable. I guess I will know of sure when I get it in the mail. What do you guys think??

Just curious, what is the advantage to this? Do you get better flow without the "elbow"

First off, you can run higher valve covers because your not dealing with the elbow that has the fitting for EGR. You get more choice of throttle body sizes. It looks cleaner. There is also a large debate over the hp gains. Supposively, the air passing the thottle then going around the elbow has a different effect then passing around the air inlet then entering throttle and going straight in. The throttle is suppose to be more responsive. This is what I have heard. My reasons are more cosmetic and functionabilty.

It seems to me like when discussed before, people said that the problem with the cruise is the cable not coming out. I dont think anyone ever looked into it. But if you are saying it comes out then i dont see why it wouldnt.

Be sure to keep us updated. When do you think you are going to do the swap?

The engine is out right now because my oil pump went south and I wanted to make sure the bearings were good. I should get the fox parts this week and will attempt to switch cables. If all goes will I will have it installed but the engine will not be in. The moment of knowing for sure will not be til spring. I dont see why the cable cant be removed. I have pictures of my cruise with the back cover off and the cable exposed. Once I get the other cruise I will take pics and post.
