I'm confused. I've seen articles about the AEM UEGO O2 having to be welded in place with a bung.

But I've also read posts that say it simply replaces one of your existing O2's and provides readings for the WB gauge as well as for your OEM connector (so the ECU doesn't throw codes).

So which is it???

If the AEM unit you're referring to has a 1V analog output then it can be wired either way... as a third stand-alone sensor or in place of one of your factory sensors. You'd then run the factory 02 harness wiring into the analog output on the wideband. You may also have to Tweak that output so that it's near what's reflected by your factory sensor on the other side.

Maybe you answered my question and I'm too dumb to realize. But can both the stock connector, and wideband connector be hooked up to it at the same time?

Yes...

There are two sensors currently located in your exhaust (of which I'm sure you are already aware). One for the left bank and one for the right.

Those sensors can be left in place and feed information to the EEC like they do now.

You can weld in an additional sensor bung, in order to mount your wide band sensor, completely independant of your existing OEM sensors. That "third" wideband sensor will feed your wideband meter and ONLY your wideband meter leaving your two OEM sensors to do the same job that they've always done.

Did that better answer your question?

yeah you dont actually weld in the 3rd O2 sensor, you weld in the bung, which is like the threaded peice so you can screw in the AEM O2 sensor.

Ahh, there's where my confusion was. I thought that the AEM version could completely replace one of the O2s; thereby feeding a signal to the ECU *AND* the WB gauge at the same time.

Thanks guys

You can do that too! But the wideband sensor will not feed the EEC. It will feed your wideband reader and the reader will in turn, feed the EEC.

I prefer the 3 sensor setup. That's how I've got mine configured. The wideband feeds only the reader while the OEM sensors feed the EEC.
