Bump...

Overdive sounds about right. Anyone for sure?

The thing is I got this to replace mine and the O/D is on the shifter handle. How hard would it be to find this mysterious button as its just a hole for now. Now im thining of what to hook up into it...

That is a hole for the shift interlock. You put a screwdriver through the whole to push down on the shifter interlock lever so you could get it out of park if your battery happens to be dead. As far as the year is concerned, I don't know but many models of cars have that. Others have diffrent ways of over riding the shift interlock.

DHOOOO I stand corrected on this one but many automatic cars do have a hole there for the reason I stated above.

I pretty sure you are correct on this. Alot of cars had those shift interlocks on them for movement. In case the car had to be moved in case of an emergency or if it is stuck.

nope it is 100% a hole for the OD on/off button, on i'm guessing pre 97 auto's...they moved it onto the shifter sometime after 96...but mine is in that exact location.

My 97 had it on the shifter handle under the factory "T". Guess that's when Ford moved it.
