I'm putting a 1974 351w in my stang and it has this water pump on it, this one's never been used but I want a polished one, do I need another one that looks like this.........

or can I get one like the style that comes on 302's which also say they work on 351w....What's the difference in them? Just better design over the years? The top one looks like it has more "room" and would flow more coolant..

They bolt up the same, the disadvantage to the 351W pump as shown is that it is cast iron and weighs a bunch more than the aluminum 5.0 pump. I doubt that the cast iron pump flows more coolant. I would make sure that whichever pump you use that the inlet to the pump does not cover up the timing marks on the vibration dampener. The Mustang radiator will have the lower radiator hose on the drivers side with the inlet to the pump being on the same side.
