I have a quick, dumb question regarding aftermarket MAF units and their match injectors..... I bought a 76mm C&L MAF calibrated for 24lb. injectors and a factory Mass Air Sensor. Obviously, I have 24lb injectors in the car..... question time..... Does the actual Mass Air Sensor need to be for 24lb. injectors or just the meter? Basically, does the sensor calibrate to the injectors or the meter housing itself.... just tryin to learn. Thanks

the c&l maf you're using uses stock electronics and the housing is shaped to flow a certain amount over the stock sensor for whatever injector size the sample tube is "calibrated" for, where a pro-m or other aftermarket sensors actually have electronics re calibrated to trick the computer into running with larger than stock injectors

Ok, thanks for the info. i appreciate it. Now, say in the future my MAS goes out, if I replace it with a cobra MAS (cal for 24s) and use it in my C&L, would that mess everything up or no? Possibly remove the Sample tube?

The Cobra MAF is not calibrated for 24's - the EEC takes care of it. The 93 Cobra MAF transfer curve is unique to itself.

You could probably get a 94-95 MAF (they are all the same, and they are plug-and-play with the stock Fox III V8 MAF) and use that with the C&L stuff.

JT,
I'm pretty sure the 94-95 sensor is different than the Fox sensor... so, if his current Fox sensor poo's the bed, he should stick with a stock replacement MAS for his vehicle

Removing the sample tube would be a bad idea... it is part of the 'calibration'...

The 94/95 sensor is designed to work and give proper readings in the housing it came with. When you put the sensor into a different housing that all goes in the toilet.

The earlier Fox sensors work with the C&L because the C&L is designed with that particular sensor.

I'm well aware that the sensor and housing stay married. I never made reference to mixing MAF's and MAS's, only to swapping one MAF assembly for another.
The 94-95 assembly is plug-and-play with the fox III EEC.
