Quick X Pipe / Catback question

I just bought a bassani catted x from a member on here, and just wanted to double check with the rest of you

There shouldnt be any modification or problems with the x pipe matching up with my slp lm1s should there be?

What do you think a resonable price would be for install?

No there shouldn't be any problems with the fitment if it's both 2.5" For install I would say about $150 but I would just do it myself. I don't know why people can change their batteries and oil but they are scared of simple piping that bolts together, it's like legos dude I'm sure you could tackle it lol.

Yeah, my mustang was my first ever car and it seems alot harder than anything actually is. Its gonna be around 8 bolts and all you do is unbolt, swap pipe, rebolt. Should take around 30 mins tops

Yea, I would agree about the midpipe being very easy and straightforward to do, but the catback may not be. I'm not sure about the LM1 catback, but my Flowmaster catback had to be welded together, which most people cannot do.

OP, I might would wait until you get the parts, and then determine if it can be bolted together, or if it has to be welded. If it has to be welded, and you are getting a mechanic to do that, I would probably just go ahead and get him to install the midpipe as well. Probably wouldn't be much extra. If it is all bolt-together, and you have a few basic tools and some time, you can probably do it yourself.

In theory that is true. I installed an H pipe last week and it took almost 2.5 hours b/c one header to mid pipe stud snapped in half, one o2 sensor stripped the threads on the way out, and one was so stuck, the o2 sensor socket broke. Yes mainly just bad luck, but just be aware, these type of simple installs do not always go simply.

the slp's use quality band clamps,no welding needed.
just look at the little slots at the joints before clamping things down.
make sure it clamps down on the pipes,or you'll have leaks.

also,if you have a jack and a couple jack stands,you can do it your self and save some $.
those,common hand tools and a hack saw are all you should need.

I bolted in my cated x-pipe, mid pipes, and the entire Cat back pipes with 3" tips in one afternoon. Just make sure all the pipes are where you want them before you tighten them up. Be prepared to go back under after a initial drive to check that nothing came loose. I put my exhaust on my 2003 GT back in 2005 and its still there with no problems.

IIRC the far stud on the passenger side header is a pain in the ass to get to.

Maybe it's just me, but all my exhaust installs have been disastrous... broken bolts and pipes stuck/rusted together... luckily on the three cars I did it to, I could cut the pipes off with a sawzall in the end. Not sure I'd even attempt a bolt together kit again myself unless i was going headders to tailpipe. It is nice to get it all welded up clean and professional like too, even if it can be bolted together. Just looking at it from the other perspective.

On a brand new car, 30 mins no problem...on a car thats 3+ years old you normally break bolts, which normally isnt too big of a deal considering you get new hardware, but I would say 1-2 hours would be a more accurate time...I have never seen anyone work on a car like they were in nascar...most people take their time, invite a friend over and have a few beers...

The Bassani catted x fits the slp lm1's making sure alignment is on point before clamping. But welding is a good idea if you plan on keeping the setup as is for here on out as they will give that permanent finish both looks and mechanically. If later you decided to go LT's then I'd just use the clamps for the time being and weld when all is done with the exhaust system.

As for those studs on the exhaust manifold (end of the header) they only need to come out if the mid-pipe your installing comes with bolts of their own. If they ultilize the stock studs and nut then your job just got easier. But if they require you to use their bolts then some elbow grease is going to be needed to take them out. But care is to be taken doing this because if you break the stud then its a bi*ch taking them out. Once had to drill a broken stud out and lost six bits in the process. The older the car or higher the mileage then the higher probablity its cooked on there tight. So take a look at your parts laid out in order to decide if this is the case.

Either way you have a nice setup and can't wait to here some sound clips...hint...hint

Oh and FYI: what year is your car? because 04 GT's require O2 extensions for your mid-pipe.
