are you considering heads a bolt one, or are you talking of usig the factory longblock, exception for cam or what....

I assume you mean with the gt-40 heads, a cam, and a cobra intake with all the other mods to support it...

I think that would be GMKILLER..... but i don't see him here much anymore.... his ride looked(looks) sick though

intake to oil pan, so stock longblock untouched. i am just curious, i came over from a 2v and know all the common knowledge there, but am an idiot about the 5.0. just looking to see what the stock potential of cobra stock longblock is, get everything out of it and then mod it.

Well with some exreme weight reduc and rediculously steep gears it is possible to get quite low, but not practical.

Well the cobras in stock form aren't a whole lot faster than the GT's. Maybe 5 tenths faster is my guess.

But since you have decent heads and intake, you could always go the ported route.

But if you are content with keeping stock heads/cam/intake, I bet you could hit the high 12's with a nasty drag suspension setup, 4.56's, LT's and o/r midpipe, slicks, chopping weight, bigger TB/MAF/intake tube and a dyno tune.

Not sure if it's a record, but Chris over on TM.com had a 95 Cobra (white) that I believe dipped into the high 10's with. This was on a 100% stock longblock with a turbocharger.

lol, hey.. a turbo is a "bolt on"

I bet if you run Gainsville or Bradenton you would knock off an easy .2-.5 seconds on the ET, as compared to OSW.

Bradenton is a nice track. I've heard the horror stories about Orlando's track.

I have an FMS RPM Extender for a Cobra FS if interested. Worked great on my cobra. Sam Guido tuned it.

To the best of my knowledge Rob (GMKILLR) has the fastest cobra that was stock from the TB to the oil pan. This was also done at PRP where the elevation is 1250'. I typically run 2 tenths and 2mph slower there than at some of the other tracks I race at, so there was definitely more in at a lower elevation track.

Long time ago I went 13.08 @ 104 with long tubes, catted h-pipe, borla catback exhaust, 3.73s (needed more gear), Pro-M 77mm meter, adjustable rear control arms, subframes, 26x8.5 ET Drags.

With more gear and a few more additions it would have been a 12.80 car but I bought a supercharger.

Hey John !! Willie here !!

Don't you remember my car running mid 12's(12.48) at the track? That was an Explorer engine from top to bottom, save for e-cam, which is basically a Cobra engine. Even ran 12.8's on Bfg's DR's with explorer intake. You were there, and I hate to admit it but you drive'em like a beast. So tommorrow you can borrow my tires and try for 12's , all you need is gears.
