hey gregpro, im the guy who actually owns the car and i was wondering just how involved it is in taking a car and making it a ttop since you said you have done a couple. trust me guys, ive learned how rare these are and i DO NOT want to get rid of it. i just want to find my easiest/cheapest solution. any ideas help.

Keep that car and fix it... Check around for parts and find someone that fix it so it looks good as new. If you decide to sell it, make sure it will go to a person that wont hack it up and junk it. Those t-tops are rare, I had a 88 Gt with t-tops and I regret selling it.

All T-top cars started out as hard tops anyway and were converted so its not that bad if you have the T-top frame. It is just held on to the inside with a bjillion rivets. You can even use hardtop doors if you get the guts out of a T-top door to use. The glass is different and convertible glass is different too so you cant use that. The worst part is cutting the roof but if you make a template and make careful measurements its not that bad. The next one I do I am going to make a step by step T-top conversion thread.

so are you saying that me and ryan with no real prior body shope expirience could tackle this and not ruin it. Ryan and i both have construction bacgrounds, more him then i. But he is a animal on an metal brake and is dangerous with a tape.lol. The measuring and constructing process doesnt scare me but i dont want to chop the roof off the car im giving him and then get into it and figure out were *******. So whats the best approach to this , how long did it take you to do.?
It took me about a weekend to do all the roof work and thats not really spending alot of time with it. The best thing for you to do is to carefully take apart your donor car to see how everything goes together. Once you really see how simple it is and how they were converted when they were new you will see that its really not that intricate and there is no welding or anything required. As soon as I find the right coupe I am going to do a step by step conversion thread.
yeah.... if you could do a step by step that would be awesome!! i know we could probably tackle the job but its knowing where to start and what right steps to take after that. i have a good place to store the car now so i have some time to sit on it but i would like to get it back on the road ASAP!!
