Is it even for a turbo motor? I'd guess it's for circle track racing in which case the cam would be a horrible choice (as would the head).

Most circle track heads are shaved ALOT for compression and are setup to flow well at HIGH rpm, not exactly streetable.
Turbo = low compression
N/a = High compression
Turbo = low compression
N/a = High compression
i have an oil leak that i believe is coming from my head gasket. it is leaking near the water pump area. if i need to replace the gasket then i will jut put a new head on it. ported and polished with a turbo cam. know anyone with a head for sale. or if i get a new head what should i get. any suggestions?

I would pony up and get an Essy aluminum head if that's what you are really wanting to do. (lose weight and be less crack prone than a stocker.)
i don't have that much money to spend to get an all aluminum head. But i have enough to get a castiron ported head. on the other hand i have already replaced the valve cover gasket last week due to the oil leak.... it is not coming from that. it is the cleanest part on the motor!! haha. i have used gunk foaming cleaner to clean the whole engine and i let the car sit ad idle for 30 minutes before i saw a leak.. it is very small near the timing belt. about the middle of the engine area.. just to the right of the thermostat housing.. any ideas?

Sometimes you can have oil permeate it's way into bolt holes through porosity in the casting. Possibly coming from the thermostat bolt??? Otherwise, I would say cam seal. You wouldn't have to remove the head for that, unless you wanted to.

Not from the thermostat bolt. That would be water. 
There's an oil galley plug just above the thermostat housing to the right. It takes and allen wrench to remove it. They seldom leak, but there's a first time for everything. Take it out, wrap some teflon tape around it or some slop some thread sealant (pipe dope) and thread it back in and check again for leaks.
Keep this in mind, there's very little oil running around in that area. There's the galley I mentioned above, and other than a drainback hole on the passenger side close to the front, that's about it. The oil drainback hole is not under pressure so I don't think you'd see the kind of leak you're seeing from that. The only other spots under pressure near there would be the cam seal and aux shaft seal but it's over to the right of the water pump and down a bit. The cam seal being right above the water neck would be my best guess even before the galley plug.
I went out and checked the D-port head I've got sitting in the garage and couldn't find any other bolt holes that are threaded through to an oil passage on the front of the head.

Well I was looking at the head again and found another place that may be suspect.
The bolt that holds the tensioner spring, not the one that goes through the srping, but the one with the stem on the head that holds one of the spring fingers, threads through at the bottom of the valvetrain floor. Its possible that oil could be coming from there. Have you done a timing belt recently?
Sometimes people (myself included) forget to put thread sealant on that bolt.

Finally heres an update guys... It turns out that sonic is wrong... haha it is actually the camshaft that is leaking. it is a very slow leak and it only comes out while the engine is running. very fine took an hour to spot it while it was idleing. is it hard to replace the seal there? IS there a possibility of messing up the timing? any tips? appreciate all the help!
looks like a 50 gallon drum of sludge blew up in there!
