Ok...so most of the time ive been afraid to let loose when at a stop light...normally I just give it enough power to beat the rice burners

So my questions are...

1. how should i be shifting in a street race at a stop light?

2. Whats a safe rpm to launch at and how fast should I let out the clutch...

3. how bad is power shifting?

4.how bad is it to be winding up to 5000rpm

Thanks
Jason

To know where the best shift point is you would really have to dyno the car if you have mods or anything to make sure you are shifting before the powerband drops iff..I shift around 5400 in my car bc any more than that and the car no longer feels like it is pulling..a launch would be good to start around 2k and see what works best..most of the time you will want to slip the clutch enough to get a quick take off without burning the tires off..Best thing to do is hit up a drag strip and you will learn alot about your car ..

I dont think you should ever rev any harder than you have to..you should always shift where the power falls off..any mroe than that will slow you down and not to mention add more wear to the motor..as far as hurting the motor ..I dont suggest you constantly run over 5 grand as it creates alot of friction in the motor..thats why racing is hard on them :nice:

Mine pony has 29k on the clock and is running like a pony should sweet and I don't drive like miss daisy either. :D

It's seen many of hard driving times road and track. I always shift right around <100 rpm below the limiter when racing. The whole reason for shifting as high a possible in the rev range is to be in your power band for the next gear. :nice:

Change your oils and keep your fluid levels checked, drive the arse off the pony and if something beaks fix it as always.

yeah it suxs...if your lucky and dont get impounded the fine is twice as much as a DUI...heard of people getting nailed for 5-7k :(

But you have to be "racing" not just speeding...My neighbors a CHP...just say that you were driving this speed and so was he...

if you can pull off a story that his driving wasnt effecting your speed..u should be ok...also the ticket for 99 is in the low 300's and a ticket for 100 is 700 ;)
