Sorry guys... can't say I kept up too good this time...

First run: from a roll, end of 2nd, srt-4 honks it off, we all go, they both pull out in front of me, the srt-4 beat the evo by a little bit, they both pulled on me about 3 cars till the end of 4th

Second run: from a dig, evo honks it off, i launch too hard and spin bad, same outcome

Third run: me and the srt-4 from a dig, he honks it off, i get a good launch and he instantly pulls a little bit in front of me, put a car on me in 2nd, another car in third, and a little more in 4th..

i got new respect for the srt-4's... the kids a really good driver too, i had my stepbro in the car but thats no excuse, the srt-4 is stock as well as the evo, my mods are in my signature, the srt-4 raced a 02 5 speed gt who ran a 13.8 stock... his mods now are: 3.73's, chip, intake, exhaust and he beat him by half a car from a dig... all in all those cars are quick...

Neon or not, they are quick and to be respected, those that don't know that by now will be in for a rude awakening when they encounter one. The EVO's with their AWD are hard to beat to from a stop. I'd be more cautious in racing the evo just from a traction standpoint than the neon on the street. FWD + lots of HP and TQ don't make for an easy to launch car.

Despite this, someone will still come in and say... its still a dodge or a neon or something and try to dismiss the fact that they are quick cars, it happens in everyone one of these threads...

that srt-4 cant be stock if it beat a evo. evos are faster, the srt probably has a boost controller i bet which makes it non stock. i raced an evo from like a 10mph roll an he could only a pull a quarter of a car on me. that is the beauty of gears.

Zach- that wasn't directed at you. I just wanted to make that point before someone came in here with the usual... "its still a neon" garbage.

I believe you can take delivery of the neon SRT4 with the dodge performance package dealer installed. There is a name for it which I can't remember right now, but there were 2 different "stages" you could upgrade to, the first was like a $500 option but it raised the power pretty substantially. I'm sure there is an SRT4 owner lurking here that knows what I mean.

i know 1 and 2 are covered by warranty.

we setup a run against a guy who had a factory upgraded pistons

to bad ford wont ever do stuff like that.

"oh you have a coldair.... thats why your modular motor ticks... warranty denied"

Isn't that the sad truth!?!?

Snoozer, do you know any details on what power gains each of those "stages" provides?

Wonder if I could beat an SRT-4? Someone I know is buying one.. no special stages.. And he's a track racer and not a drag racer..
Think I could take him with the mods in sig? I've beaten a 350Z and a WRX both manual.. But what about the SRT-4?

some stage 2s running high 12s i believe.... with maybe a bolton or 2 more

tons of these guys run m&h DOT slicks in the front and drag radials.... hell they have to to go anywhere

I could never in the right mind say a NEON is to be RESPECTED with that body style. I hate that cutesy, high roof, bubbly stupid look it has. Put that motor in a Lotus Elise body and you have something worth respect.
