So I have a 99 GT with a Vortech sq, it was about 360/350 before the boost pipe. I encountered a late model firebird, probably around 99. He said he had an LS1 and that it was all stock, sooo we raced. there was some traffic so we could only go once. we went from 60-130 i started off in 3rd. he stayed with me the entire way, until we hit about 110 and i slowly started to inch forward. I expected to beat him no problem. what happened?

What happened? Well it looks like you risked the lives of everyone else on the road around you. Nice job :nice:

Hopefully when you do eventually crash it will be only you that gets hurt/killed...

Please, we all know it's immoral and illegal and everything, it's okay if you back down your guard just a little, no one will care...
Well, i figured the place to do it would be a half-mile-plus stretch of 3 lane, 2 side shouldered highway with zero other cars as far as the eye can see. Once I got within sight of another car, i stopped. Please do not wish death upon me or others who you don't know personally. Besides, the drunks are the ones you really need to watch out for.

Ever notice how, when called on it, street racers alway claim they were on the lonliest stretch of highway in the entire county? Yeah, riiiiighhhht...

Two questions: was it dark out and how old are you?

Anything can happen street racing. I lost a friend to street racing who was a passenger in one of the cars. No other cars were on the road either. The guy driving lost control and hit a telephone pole head on while racing his 97 Camaro SS. Everyday on the way to work I see my friend's picture on a tree next to the pole and a cross. Just remember, anything can happen no matter who else is on the road or the conditions.

that sucks, yo should have killed him....he must have been modded, cams, l/t, somthing?

oh yea, street racing is BAD. just incase you havent heard it yet!:D

Age has nothing to do with street racing, I know PLENTY of guys who's ages range from 20 to 50 and they all street race.

Oh age has a lot to do with it. The more experience you have driving the more in control of your car you will be. The simple fact of the matter is that with each decade of driving experience you gain more skill, wisdom, and common sense.

Kids weaving through heavy traffic or street racing lack experince and/or judgement. They think the are Dale Jarrett but in actuality they are more like Pee Wee Herman...

Anywho.....The LS1 Generates 345hp buddy and runs 13.0 13.6 pending on the driver....What did you expect...Your car Runs normally low 14s and probably runs High 12s to low 13s now right?

With just a Slp Lid and full Exhaust our cars dyno in at 340 Rwhp...and then if we add gears we run High 11s to mid 12s.....I think you did pretty good

You guys make me laugh. You all know you've raced or broken the law one time or another. :)

btw, I would think a 360whp stang would pull a bone stock LS1 even harder. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that Firebird wasn't stock.

age and experience don't neccesarily equate to skill or common sense. just because you are an old fart doesn't mean someone half your age isn't a better driver and/or smarter. i've seen plenty of jackasses older than me who can't drive yet still try to race me.
