I have a 1989 Ford Mustang GT...as I have time I've been fixing things on it. Today I was replacing the cracked cooling fan and noticed the old one and new one rubbed on the bottom of the fan shroud...what are possible causes of this...bent radiator frame? engine mounts? Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

be careful if you are going to jack up the engine by the harmonic balancer. I have done it by using a 2x4 cut around the the balancer and to push up on the oil pan rail. Vert mounts are better then stockers but if you can get poly mounts its the best..

The guys are right-on about the motor mounts.

Note that some parts store mounts require you to get new hardware (they have metric fasteners in the new mounts and OEM we had SAE).

Ask for mounts for a 93 to get the convertible style mounts. ES and Prothane are popular poly options. See the sticky thread in the Useful Reference thread to see comparison pics of the poly mounts.

Good luck.

I always do a trans mount with the motor mounts. It's a 5 minute swap even with the trans in place. Also consider new crossmember bushings. ES makes poly ones that work nicely.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys...Im going to order the Prothane engine and tranny mounts today. Hopefully this will fix my fan problem. If not I guess it a 19 year old car anyways! The crossmember has new bushings in it due to the T-5 swap I did this week. Thanks.
