Good race!
My buddy used to have a Viper, so I know what they can do. And I must say launching those things is a pain! Either bog or wheelspin. The best thing to do is get the tires to bark, then hook. All that is left to do is plant your foot.
I've seen Vipers run high 11's stock, on stock tires!
My firend raced many cars, I even have some on video, and all I have to say is that thing was fast!
I'll bet he spun the tires. But a Viper is a Viper, so congrats.

450 hp, 3400 lbs for the Viper GTS.....I think you should have taken him, at least to 100 mph, past there he would catch up big time

Nice kill! I like vipers but I tried getting next to this dumbass in a viper last year and he kept doing ricer fly by's. He was an old guy acting like a stupid kid in a civic, it was so funny even though he probably could have smoked me at the time.

I'm not surprised, you are making good power and your probably more setup for drag racing, but like M.Y. said don't go crazy about it. To be honest, anyone here with a 12 second mustang can beat one, but you have to remember they are built for cornering and speed not stoplight racing. I doubt you can do 172+ mph. A year ago I was at some 1/8th mile races and some dude rented a Maranello ferrari and he got his ass spanked by everybody because he was running like 9.2's. But get that guy on the highway and he'd be gone. It was probably fun though and thats all that counts.

I'm not surprised at all really. If it had been a new rt-10, then i'd be surprised, but not this case.

450 hp and 490 lb-ft......The new vipers SRT-10's are 500 hp and 525 lb-ft. The GTS does the quarter in 12.4 @ 118 mph with a competant driver.

I have seen Civics (on steroids) kill Vipers on the drag strip, but on a road course I wouldn't even waste my gas. Congrats like everyone says it was a Viper (the $85k ego boost)

Thats definetly the truth. A viper or whatever in that class (in my opinion) is more of a status vehicle as to where any true mustang owner/lover its a raw feeling you get everytime you slam second at 6000 that just keeps us loving life that much more. "S--- i think i'm gonna cry"

At the track last weekend, some guy - about 25 years old, had a GTS with the $8000 paxton supercharger (includes cooler) and a 50 hp shot of NOS. He ran a 11.21 et on BFG drag rads..

Okay, then my goal should be a new RT-10. I may need the forced induction to beat that snake.

It is terrible but you cant really compare a bike to it....take that dodge bike with the viper motor, im pretty sure that was it..it was at the auto shows a few years back.

That bike will laugh at just about anything made......that is if you can find a driver for it

SRT-10, either in the truck or in a Viper is still wicked I think. I looked at a SRT-10 at around 11 o'clock at night, and it was open. I couldn't believe it, but I still hopped inside it since I didn't have any salesmen watching me lol

Yeah - the car to bike comparisons are really apples and oranges. Having one of each, they're just so different. And for HP/weight ratios, the bikes really ought to be much quicker than they are. A car with similar HP/weight ratio will usually smoke a bike - that's what happens with you have more rubber on the road.

All the talk about cost of the Viper - well guys, remember - it's only expensive if you can't afford it.

I agree more rubber to the ground is the advantage that a car has on a bike. I have never got beat by a car yet on my bike which i dont think will happen unless its wet, they just cant hang, not that I race cars on the street

i agree. a mustang goes to the car lover that just wants to have fun. i drive with a smile.
in a viper guys just wear sunglasses and stare straight ahead thinking they are cool. of coarse i'd think i was cool too but i'd hope to not be snobby about it..
