I'm talking to my Uncle about my HCI plans, and he asked why I didn't just slap on a super charger and be done. So we started talking and I said ya know for the the extra 900 bucks, I'd just get a turbo kit. He goes, "A turbo will never beat a blower."

I flip out. He keeps saying stuff like "I've been into cars longer then you, turbo's are for 4-bangers with no balls" etc etc. So we go online to turbo mustangs and I show him that with the same amount of boost, turbo's kill s/c's interms of power and efficiency. He still doesn't believe me and told me if I want to prove it I'll get a turbo kit and take it to the track. We actually got into a pretty heated debate and despite the evidence he is still pig headed and keeps calling me "the rookie". WTF is wrong with this people? I can't believe that there are still people out there that think turbo's make less power then s/c's.

Anyone want to lend me a turbo kit? So I can put him in his place? Please?

end rant

Sounds like me talking to my brother, and he's only 21. Too bad he never got to go for a ride in the car with HCI and a turbo. I converted my dad over after he got done from the ride though Just tell him 4th gear 3000rpm 10psi and 1/2 throttle = no traction

Old people are funny..

Hes got a point about doing a SC over h/c/i though, IMO. A used vortech setup would be cheaper, make more power, and no idle issues, but thats a discussion for another thread

I had some guy at an auto parts store (autozone) look at me and give me the ol' you dont know crap/I have been doing this for 25yrs.

I then said quality over quantity.

He friggan flipped

now I have alot of respect for the older guys who honestly have a great deal of knowledge to pass down, but when a guy is going on about 80's 351 cleavlands . I stop paying attention, and I am a fairly quiet guy that some people dont think I am paying attention anyway....but I am.

Yeah some of those old guys are as bad as ricers. But some are really cool and know alot and know what they don't know. My machinist is an Aerospace engineer from the 60's and the guy is a genius, it's really fun talking to him.

GreenMustangGt, You are close enough that you are probbaly going to go to Epping anyway to run that thing right, Invite Black95GTS to come with you and show the old man who is boss...

My father is the same way, OLD SCHOOL... he started a 65 mustang coupe about 5 years ago (finances are really killing him) but he plans to have the back of the car sit 4-5 inches higher than the front because it will help him at the track... grrr.... So I know your pain...

my freinds dad who supposedly knows everyting about cars and and is a drag racer said i was going to blow my motor when i did my heads.

He said the change in compression would kill my 90k motor without rebuilding it first.

Heads and 8 bottles of untuned nitrous didnt even break it .

yeah, try talking to them about an import. They all incist that i should take my motor out and put a v8 in. haha, my car ran high 12s stock, and with an intake, downpipes, decat, and exhaust it added another 90whp. but hey i guess a standard v8 would be faster.

oh well. they also never believe my hp numbers, and then go off on a tangent about the good-ol-days.

I feel your pain. I got into an argument with a guy my dad's age about 8 years ago who kept telling me that "injected" meant the car had nitrous, not fuel injection. He said that a fuel injected car is called "naturally aspirated".

It's hard to explain how the conversation went, but it all started when I said "injected motor" as in not carbureted and he went off.

What a dumbass. At that point I realized that even old people who act like they know about cars doesn't mean they do.
