Rapping Sound at Startup

I've noticed this for a while but it is even more prominent now that the weather is cold (this weather seems to bring out the worst sounds apparently). Every time I start my car up after sitting for long periods of time (usually in the morning) the engine makes this irregular rapping sound for about a minute and then seems to fade away.

I do my oil changes with Mobil 1 5w20 the factory recommended weight and I make sure all 6 quarts are in there so I can rule out oil issues. I also park on a level surface so there should not be starvation either from that.

Anyone experienced this?

mine does the same. i only drive my car on the weekends so i just figured all of the oil has settled. it goes away after a few minutes so im not too concerned

mine did that to and its a 6 but now its making that noise while i drive and its got 118000 on it.. im pretty sure its the rockers hitting the cam making noise until the oil gets up there since there is no lifters or pushrods

mine is sporting the same noise... but im in the same boat. i only drive it on the weekends... it has about 1200 miles on it. but i do start it once a day.

i just figure its the oil. no worries
