Rattle from under car while accelerating

i would get under the car and start bangin on things till you find whats making the noise you hear.. most likely heat shields on your cats (if you still have them)

also you sure its not detonation?

At what RPM's... I had a simmilar sound at p[artial throttle at less than 1500, and it drove me CRAZY until I realized it was jsut the way the flows sound at that RPM... Now I just drive above 1500 rpm all the time...

A lot of the times, when I accellerate there is a metal rattling sound (only when im on the gas), sounding like its coming from underneath the car. It can make the whole car shake, and the acceleration slows down.

If it wasn't for the entire car shaking I'd say it souds like detonation\pinging. However as someone said check your driveshaft, and for good measure check your harmonic balancer too.

No aftermarket mid-pipe huh? Darn, I was gonna say that. My MAC h-pipe used to rattle against the tranny crossmember until I wrapped it. But like Urban said, you can start hitting things (gently now!) to see if anything's loose. I just remembered, I had a bad rattling coming from under my car for a while. When I crawled under there to look around, I accidentally kicked my swaybar, and it was broken. Replaced it and no more rattle. :)

legalize, could you tell me where on the driveshaft it is? Like front, back middle? Also, how do I tell if its bad or not? And how much will a replacement cost

i guess i meant to say u joints. there is one on each side of the driveshaft. as far as replacement cost i brought my car to my mechanic and they replaced the driveshaft with one from a junkyard. i dont remember the exact total but i think it was around 200 installed.
