Real quick question about intakes.

Well right now there is a good chance that I will get the stroker pretty soon. Ok let's say that it is all good and I have the stroker. What would be the real difference between the RPM and the RPM II?

And that would be the upper intake correct? What do you suggest for a lower or is that also called an RPM?

Thanks.

Im not too sure of the differences, but you should buy the U/L together to save money....most of the parts places sell them together.

my understanding is that the rpm ii is better in the higher rpms ...

Well right now I am stock but I plan to have either a 331 or a 347 stroker in there with a set of AFR 185 heads. Oh BTW, I plan to turbocharger later on too.

Thanks a lot.

why do you want swap out the 302? The cobra Intake is a good flowing intake as well and has the same lower as the GT-40 intake so the uppers can be swapped out.

huh? heck, a 347 stroker is one kick arse motor. why would you NOT want to swap one in? i plan to do that in a few years when my motor gets tired ...

I realize that but I was wondering if his 302 was blown, old and warn out or what. I want to get a 331 Stroker in the next few yrs to go along w/ my current combo and a set of AFR heads.

Theres a big diffrence between saying you want to get a 331 or 347 and actually having it sitting under your hood. Its difficult to answer these kinds of questions b/c having and wanting is two diffrent things. I Mean hes completly stock now but wants a 347 w/ a turbo and asking what kind of Intake to run w/ it.........buy the 347 and turbo first b/c the intake that you would want to run on that set up wouldent bennifit to much on a stock motor

Oh I know I wouldn't put that kind of intake on a stock motor. The reason I asked is because I plan to do the heads cam and intake all at once so WHEN the time comes when I order the stroker, I will have a good idea on what kind if intake to get. Because having a stock intake on a 331,347 would be a lot of restricion.....right?

BTW any ideas on the cam I should look into getting? That is, when I get the stroker of course.

If you get H/C/I all at once, the intake you chose at that point will be fine for the Stroker. If you ONLY get intake now, you will have to change for the stroker.

The FTI's seem to be the going cams right now. Steeda #19, Crane 2031, TFS stage 1 (if you get TFS heads and intake) and Crower 15511 are also popular in our cars.

Thats good, its nice to see that your not one of these people that come on here asking what to buy for these sick combos they have plannned out when they havent even bought any of the major components yet but there ready to buy the intake and cam.

The TFS Twisted Wedge stage 1 or stage 2 would work well w/ that combo. But if your looking at spending that much money on a set up then it might be worth the money to get a custom ground cam from Ed Curtis.

Yeah a stock intake on a 331 or 347 stroker would be a restriction. I'll prove to you that you dont need a sick intake either. A bunch of us are going to the dyno on saturday. My friend chris has a turbo charged 91 LX that was pushing 300 RWHP N/A w/ the ported cobra Intake, I can guarantee that his cobra intake wont be a restriction for him.

Yeah, and JR (SC5 something) has a Cobra intake on his.

I once had a chance to buy (but didnt) a mirror-like Extrud-hone Cobra for $600 that came off a car in the high 500's HP.

One think about the Cobras and TFS's is that they polish up nicely, and the Cobra has the added benefit of a red and/or black painted face plate.
