i measured the driver side axle and it was 29 5/32 which is the correct length. now i really dont know what to do... im about 1/2 short on the driver side. i think im going to get 1/2 wheel spacers from ebay.

Assuming that the axles are the same length and the wheels have the same offset with the same size tires, that means that the entire differential housing is offset in the chassis.

The only way for this to happen is if the UCAs are torn off of the floor of the car, or the bushings in one end of them are destroyed, or the bushings at the differential end are pulling out of the ears on the housing. The effective length of the UCAs are what control the lateral position of the housing in the chassis.

You really need to find and fix the cause of the problem and not bandaid them with spacers

Just a few suggestions on what could be happening here:

- After my 5-lug swap and larger wheels/tires my passenger side tire rubbed the fender lip pretty bad while my driver's side didn't, not even a scratch
- My driver's side quad shock rubs the main shock while the passenger's side does not (even though both quad shocks are reversed)
- Check the actual amount of play in the axle with either callipers or a dial indicator. The "feels like" method can vary widely.
- Is it possible the car could have been wrecked and maybe taken a hit in the axle, maybe bending the control arms, etc. ?
- Is it possible the quarter panel could have been replaced at some point and not be in factory specs ?
- Check your torque boxes and make sure they are not torn

I'm thinking if you are sure you used the correct length axles and did the C clip install correctly that it might be a perception thing. In a perfect world everything would be symetrical, but maybe it's not a prefect world. Of course you would probably already know about the C-clip if it wasn't right... If in doubt you could always take it to an alignment shop and see what they say.

Suggest that you pull both axles and verify the shaft length. There are several lengths that will fit. The Ranger axles are two diff lengths left and right, and you need two from one side for a Mustang.

Next up, check the c clip install.

If the above checks out, start looking at the control arms and wheels.
