Rear bumper/exhaust tip question

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder cats and was wondering.. how hot do the tips get? Reason asking is becuase my rear bumper is SLIGHTLY ouching one of the pipes tips on the left side.. will this melt? Or will the tips not get that hot enough to melt the bumper? Thanks guys.

I would assume that if the stock tips never got hot enough, then the aftermarket ones won't either. I wouldn't worry about it

Well see.. the thing is.. I just got my Cervini's Stalker body kit put on.. and I've had this exhaust with my stock rear bumper.. and it wasn't rubbing at all.. but with this new rear bumper it is very slightly.. and I have no idea how hot the Flowmaster tips get.. just want to be sure I don't melt my new bumper cover lol.

It may not be hot enough to melt it, but it will probably get discolored soon. The instructions that came with the Magnaflow catback said to leave 1/2" clearance to avoid damage or possible fire.

if your worried about it go to the hardware store get four new bolts 1/2 longer then the originals use 2 nutz on each bolts as spacers that will drop the exhaust tips down a bit

if I recall, MM&FF has "ice box" project, they have an SLP catback and a stalker body kit, they don't mentioned anything like melting the bumper...no worries..

and the stalker rear bumper? I have wanted to see them,
and the yellow stang on the web site isn't doing it for me.

you probably should space it out a bit more just for peace of mind as well as looks.

Have you ever touched your exhaust tips after driving? Those things get pretty HOT. I wouldn't want that touching my bumper.. definitely will discolor the paint. Take it to a muffler shop, or try to bend down the hangers welded to the tips.
