I am switching to 94-98 mustang axles and brakes in my 'bird and was wondering if the v6/v8 plates on the end of the axle housing and the caliper brackets were the same between the v6/v8 and cobra models.

I already have axles and the housing end plates from a 96 v6 mustang and figured, if they are the same (other than rotors and calipers) I could just get a v6/v8 caliper bracket from the junk yard and then buy new Cobra calipers and rotors and bolt them up. Any insight?

The V6 and GT caliper brackets should be the same, but the Cobra uses a different bracket, although the calipers are the same between all of them. Due to the larger rear rotors on the Cobra, the bracket spaces the caliper farther away from the axle tube.

The plates on the end of the axle housing are different on the Cobra, the V6/GT are the same. I've heard the caliper brackets are a bit different for the Cobra, but as long as the rotor spins freely you'll be fine.
