My rear defrost is not factory installed. Its starting to show age and it makes the car look worse. The last couple strips seem to get slightly warm but none of the others and in fact the vertical strip on one side is starting to peel off so they're not getting anything anyways. I was going to just take a razor blade to it but I decided to do a quick search first and all I found was information on repairing it.

Is the rear defrost comparable to a sticker or is it embedded any in the glass?

I'm not really familiar if these come with the rear glass or are applied later.

Really my question is can I take a razor blade to it and get satisfactory results?

And if so what does it take to have new strips laid?

Autozone or places similar sell a repair kit. It consists of a metallic paste that you brush over the "dead" spots. Otherwise......

I found an awesome use for the timer circuit and a nitrous kit so if you don't want it any more, keep it because you never know whether you'll use it for something else.

Thanks, I know about those pastes.

I really don't care that much about the rear defrost because I made it through the last winter without it (found it wasn't even grounded a few weeks ago and thats why it wouldn't come on at all)
