The rear drum brakes on the 5.0's are a little more difficult to tell when adjustment is correct versus by Taurus. Question about the adjustment screws is this. Looking from the back of the car, passenger side adjuster should turn clockwise to tighten and the drivers side counter clockwise. Am I correct?

I don't remember which is which, but I believe if they are working correctly you will not be able to loosen them without holding the adjusting bar out. So if you turn them and they click, you're going the right way to tighten. Otherwise it shouldn't turn.

Sound right???

89MustangGx is right on.

Turn the adjuster a couple of clicks at a time until you are able to slide the drum onto the axle with a slight drag but not too snug
(just make sure the drum doesn't have a "lip" on the outer edge or has too much rust built up on the outer edge.)
If there is rust build up, use some 80 grit sand paper to clean it off.
Thats the method I use at my work and on my own Mustang.
