Rear-end Gasket question???

I had gears put in my Cobra about 1 year ago, and they used a gasket to seal the lid instead of gasket maker. My question is...I am getting an SVO rear end cover girdle installed today and I was wondering if the gasket that is on there now would be reusable, and if it is not will gasket maker be strong enough to get the job done. Any quick help will be great! Thanks.

I doupt you will be able to reuse the gasket. I would just use a good quality gasket maker(RTV.) I have changed the gear ratio in my truck(9") I know at least 6 times in the last 6 years and have never had any problems using RTV.

good thing you are getting rid of that gasket, that bitch was probably ready to spring a leak...RTV all the way
