rear end rebuild question...

I am rebuilding my traction lock and have the carrier out with the ring gear and bearings still attached. All other parts such as spider gears I have cleaned with an engine degreaser followed by brake cleaner.

I do not plan to take the bearings off. Is it safe to clean them with degreaser then brake cleaner?

I was thinking it may be safe because they are probably packed with grease, which leads me to my next question. Do I have to pack these bearings with grease, and if so, what specific type.

Thanks alot guys:nice:

yeah I would thing the rearend gear oil would be sufficient lube for them. Just hit them with a bit before install and then the lube you add to the diff should take care of the rest.
