Hey guys, ive been sketching out some ideas and was wondering if this one looked fesible as well as durable.

I sketched this one very quickly while looking under the car so things may seem out of porportion and such, so any questions or advice on the sketches would be appriciated.

That doesn't look like an independant rear thats more like a 4 link.

In order for it to be truely independant you need triangular control arms with a cv type joint that can pivot up down motion.

If you check out Martz chassis the have a setup just like that that is a pretty nice setup

that is a four link. for an irs you need something where the center section is solidly mounted to the chassis, and the axles are free to move up and down completely independant of each other, like the front suspention.

you can pick up an 03 cobra IRS and put it in your classsic. The rear will run about $1500 used.

I sold mine for $1000.

1,500 is a little extreme should be a very low milage unit that is in perfect conditions complete.

Sorry guys meant four link I was thinking of maybe doing ladder bars instead but 4 links seemed easier to fab. out and more adjustable.


Im going to take some measurements and see what i can get cookin on this, seems much easier to pay 150 at most in metal to make this instead of spending 1500 for one thats already made, without the joy of knowing you might have made something that worked eventualy.

Got any suggestions for coil overs on this? ive been watchin a few rated around 2700-3000 pound on ebay for awhile

4 links are much more adjustable than ladder bars. 4 links are also harder to set .

150 in metal to make an independent rear hmmmm....

Heres a few more sketches of brackets and all sorts of stuff, alittle more detail in these ones, tell me if you guys see any flaws, or anything you might want to add...

one had a partial drawing of the coil spring mounting bracket, but it should suffice for right now, I still need to figure out the rear clip and how im going to mount it to the partial old frame, hopefully have that drawn out soon,

Spend 1,200 and it'll be bolt on.

I didn't make it specific. It's 1200 for just the kit then you still need the IRS unit.

You got my hopes up there for a minute. but 2200-2500 still aint bad

Check out Ebay's Fastforward Fastback built by Rad Rides. It used a prototype 4 link that is supposed to be made available to the public. I can't remember the manufacturer, but most the info is on various places on the web.
