When i did my T5 swap i also changed the rear main seal..ive put about 1900 miles on it since then...recently i broke the ac eliminator bracket when i photo0035kp1.webp when i was racing on the high way...that was a week ago...my car started over heating cuz the belt was off( wasn't turning the water pump). It didn't overheat too much...about 3/4 up. Now i see a couple of drops of black oil dripping from the bottom of the bell housing....can it be cuz i overheated and screwed up the rear main seal??? i also grinded my gears (2nd) real bad twice at the track last week...can it be the tranny?? ( when i installed it i flushed the tranny for 3 days with mineral spirits and let it dry for 2 weeks then filled it with royal purple) it shouldn't be black in their no???

first of all, get that synthetic out of your t5 and run atf.

secondly smear your finger in the drip, see if it's oil or trans fluid and then post back.

if it's black, it's oil. Especially since you've JUST changed the trans fluid.

do as mentioned, check for valve cover leaks and rear intake leaks first. You're overheating isn't gonna cause a rear main problem. The only way I can see you having a problem is if you scratched the crank while removing the old seal. If thats the case, rip it all apart and sleave the crank, then install a new seal. (don't use a teflon seal with a sleave if you go that route.)

and get that synthetic out of your t5.
