About to start redoing my rear suspension, done research and been searching for days but do not know which route to do. I have an 92 lx hatch, it will see the drag track about twice a month, and been my Saturday cruise car, also when all and done looking at around 750hp. Would a good spring and strut or coils be the best, and which ones?

You need some serious stuff in the rear to hold 750hp. More than shocks and springs. Are your rear axle tubes welded ? Do you have c clip eliminators ? If you want to hold 750 on slicks there's more you need to do. The 8.8 is strong....but.... Do you have torque box reinforcements ?

I’m getting mini tubs welded in as we speak, do not have c clip eliminators. But the rear end is rebuilt with a new posi track diff and 31 spline axles. And yes I have the torque box reinforced. I was looking at the MM and QA1 coils but out of the 20 different choices I’m lost.

Maximum is leading right now with quality and fitment. They're not cheap at all.... but only spend money once. It's frustrating and expensive to try other products that may end up inferior.

Better to have an over built rear set up than a weak one.

I always get my axle tubes welded now on 8.8s. I cocked the center section and twisted the lug studs launching on slicks. I was using 28 spline axles with c clips. I've seen c clips worn halfway through....and nothing like seeing someone's axle and wheel sticking out a foot past the quarter.

Mini tubs are great. Wish I could get away with that but I've got an IRS rear now. I've seen stock SRA housing take a bunch of abuse. I've just never been that lucky.

I'm no expert. Just been dealing with these cars for a long time. Never used coil overs on the rear of my drag cars. A whole bunch of people do though. Sounds like you're building a monster. Nitrous, supercharged, turbo, or NA ?

So you think coil overs in the rear is the way to go or no? If so what’s a good spring rate? 150,160. And what exactly is a c-clip? Can I only use it with a spool? And I’m been going back and forth between turbo and Supercharger. I was leaning towards turbo for awhile but I love how easy a supercharge set up is and way less maintenance. But it’s still up in the air.

I'm turbo.... if I had to do it again I would supercharge. Turbo is expensive...

Seems like everyone loves coil overs in the rear. The spring rates would have to be tailored to your car and set up. The best advice is to give MM a call. They'll get you set up. Their reputation depends on giving good advice.

The c clips are the half moons that hold the axles in. The eliminators bolt to the rear housing ends. There's an install video on you tube.

Whether it'll work with your axles and and diff depends on th he brands. Moser eliminators usually work with their regular c clip axles and differential.

I was looking at the on3 turbo, but was thinking the price is to good to be true. The reviews don’t look bad though, and also watched a build on YouTube and the guy seemed happy with it. I have strange axles so strange c claps are probably for the best, especially since I’m going to be using strange rear brakes

I've got the on3 kit. Everything fit well except they sent the wrong thread pitch oil sender adapter. You can forget about anyone returning calls or answering emails. Tried several times to purchase one single pipe on the exhaust side ( was going to use it for a catalytic converter for inspection ). Its holding up well though. There's a bunch of additional stuff I had to buy...guess it would be the same with a supercharger for supporting modifications.

Strange is a good company to deal with. I've dealt with them in the past. Might be worth it to contact them and ask them a few questions.

What extra did you have to buy to make the kit work? How must boost are you pushing and how much power is it giving you? Also what gears are you running?

Ok.. I'm running 6.5 lbs.( a91what is getting my tune together ). Will be running just over 500 fwhp with 7 psi.

I had to buy injectors, fuel lines, catch can, breather tank, fuel pump, heat wrap / sleeves, high temp gasket maker ( silicone / rtv ), wide band o2 sensor and gauge...

I did a bunch of other stuff... ported HCI ... mspnp2 stand alone ecm... it's all in my build thread here.

The kit itself is worth it..... Everything fit together well. Quality was better than expe ted

What gears are you running. And yea that kit is looking every tempting. And why cheaper than a $4k supercharger kit

I've got 355 gear in an 04 cobra IRS.

Time is money. Supercharger install will have less down time. It's way more parts to install to go turbo....and fabrication may be necessary.

Very true but with a turbo the sky is the limit, 10,12,15,20 PSI if you want. Supercharger your looking at 10max from what I seen with the smaller pulley.

The stock block is only good for 500hp.... why push the limit ? I'm assuming your doing a 351 based build with the target of 750hp.

Ultimately it depends on what he wants to do with the car. If it's a drag setup MM will likely recommend a front C/O spring in the 150-225# range and then there really isn't an appropriate c/o spring rate for the rear. You really need a 300+ # spring up front to run rear coil overs....but those aren't the best for drag.

I'm not running MM c/os out back on my car only because the 250# spring I'm running up front for a street cruiser is too soft according to MM.

If I’m running an rear weld in anti roll bar do I need a rear sway bar?

If you install the aftermarket rear sway bar kit, the factor one gets removed

With a A.R.B. no need for a rear sway bar. But if your car is sub 500 H/P no way would I run one on the street.
I use a A.R.B. spool,solid uppers/lowers on my street car,but that's not for everyone.
