Going to start the body work soon and was looking around for ideas on tire width. What's the widest you guys have gone on a 65 with stock body and axle length? I measured out 12in from frame to fender, so with the correct offset on the rim I can get a 10.5w tire in there right?
I don't see any 10.5 fitting. 26X8.5 works pretty good with reasonable horsepower. Much over 450whp it gets tricky. A 28" tall tire makes it a little tougher. If you get a 28x9 to fit you can go pretty fast.
For my street tires I use a 275/35/18, before that I had a 26X11.50X17. The diameter would have been fine if the car wasn't so low, but it fit pretty good.
