Rearend Rebuild

You can pick up a set of new FRPP for $139.99 on line. I just had mine rebuilt. Switched out the 2.73 for 3.73. The Ford gears come with everything except a pinion bearing. You get a crush collar, pinion nut, and shims. I also needed new axle seals.

Your shop will tell you if its rebuildable or not. I got my gears installed for $206. They even painted it for me. It looks good with the SVO axle girdle.

Get yourself an eaton posi if your budget allows. You'll thank yourself later

holcomb motorsports carries the track lok rebuild kit also pick yourself up some friction modifier.....holcomb also carries that. Rebuild kit for trac lok is around $50 or so, friction modifier is around $8. They also carry frpp gears but are probably priced around $179.99 from them if not $189.99.........talk to w.l. baxley

Used gears are fine. Thats what I run. You should get a master rearend rebuild kit also it comes with all bearings and seals even axle bearings and seals. Its like $119 at summit. The traction lock rebuild kit is like $50 and will come with friction modifier. Then you just need a few quarts of gear oil.

Call Max at www.fivestarford.com for the best prices on Ford stuff. THere are different levels of rebuild kits that you can buy - it just depends on what you want to do. For the trac loc, there is just the one rebuild kit - if you want to do the alternate stacking method, just use a couple of your old friction discs and you will be fine. For the diff, you can get a basic rebuild kit that has the shims, new ring bolts, and the crush sleeve. I would suggesting getting the one that replaces at least the carrier bearings and the pinion bearings. Then there is a kit that also includes the axle bearings as well. So like I said, it depends on what you want to do. I did my gears myself and it wasn't too bad - no whine, so I guess I did okay. The only issue I had was the pinion seal I had required RTV and I didn't realize that - I think that is true of all the pinion seals in the rebuild kits. If you buy the seal separately, it has a built in seal so you don't need RTV.
