Rebuild or Replace????

Rebuild or Replace the Rearend ???? HELP!

I have good friend with 94 GT he bought recently. The car came with 4.10's in the rear but it sounds like is about to explode. He brought it to a dealer and the mechanics said a bearing is out and it is nearly ready to lock up. I haven't spent much time with the rearend and gears so..... Should we rebuild it or go aftermarket? If rebuild what are some good how-to sites to help us along. If aftermarket, what do you all recommend. Thanks for the help!!!!

I see no reason to spend the extra money on a aftermarket rear end. I say to just rebuild what ya got but i dont know how to do it yourself.

Maybe someone else will chime in....

I think a couple guys in the 94-95 section have dont it themselves, i think its not that hard from what i hear, just more time consuming since you have to have precise tolerances.

Looks like you're a noob...no offense but anyone who takes their car...especially their fox to the STEALERSHIP is not smart. They insanely expensive and most of the mechanics I've seen in those places suck bad. Find someone who does that kind of work on the side and you'll save some $$ and get a better job done. You could go for a 9" rear if you want to spend the $$, but sounds like something that can be fixed. Like I said, find someone else to work on it. Good luck!
