reccomended clutch that wont destory T-5

title says it

buying a T-5 soon and want to know what clutch to go for

most grabbing power possible w/o destroying my tranny

opinions?

i like the spec1 or centerforce

last place would be king cobra

I would go with either the King Cobra or Spec stage 1.

I have a king cobra... I burned it last night at the track,on the burn out with M/T rubber.

Cheaper to replace a clutch than a tranny!

i have a spec stage 1, and love it

havent blown the tranny yet

does grab very hard, though

My fms HD clutch has been fine for 5 years now, but its hard on your leg. I'm used to it though. Its handles a LOT of abuse and some spray. I just boughta tremec tko and im trying to decide on a 26 spline king cobra or a 26 spline mcleod.

My vote is for Centerforce Dual-Friction. I've had it for three years on my tired T-5 (120,000 miles), have never managed to get it hot enough to slip, light pedal pressure, grips great on my BFG DR's.

I havent had any complaints about my KC yet, and i've beat the crap out of it. Like stated above, it's better to destroy your clutch than your trany. In all reality, the clutch should be your weak point in your drivetrain. Some people say that it's the U joints, but that's not only unsafe if you do bust one, but you'd have to have a drive shaft loop to have any sense of safety.

Your driving is going to kill the T5 faster than anything. I used to powershift like crazy, race all the time with my T5. It seemed bulletproof, then I replaced the stock 150K clutch with a new Spec 3, and it still worked fine without a single snag for about two months and a whole lot of powershifts. Then one day it started to vibrate after a hard shift, then started making noise, then it would hardly move. I grown most of the teeth off on the gear where the countershaft and input shaft meet.

Absolutely right!!!
The 4K launches with sticky tires will destroy a T5 very quickly too. It's your driving style that will ultimately determine how long the T5 lasts, not the clutch.

Hard hitting clutches can break transmissions and drivetrains. Theres a reason why people recommend against specs (I believe its the stage 3's and up) and other hard hitting clutches for your typical street car I called d&d for recommendations for a clutch for my car, I told them 300hp n/a and maybe 400hp on nitrous, he recommended the king cobra. They also have a mcleod.

why have the king cobra in last place? ive got a buddy making 300 hp at the wheels and hes running a king cobra and it doesnt slip at all and feels great. ive got one too and couldnt be happier. the spec clutches are going to grab harder than anything which equates to more damage to the trans on harder launches. the centerforce d/f is a good clutch also. but like others said, its definetly the driving that is going to end the life of the t5

ive driven a few and wasnt exactly to happy.

coulda been a combination of things not just the clutch itself

if i buy the firewall adjuster quadrant and clutchcable kit thing for 89.99 does that make the pedal feel easier?

Bad installation of the clutch cable will make any clutch feel too hard to push down.

The binding common to adjustable cables is often due to misplacement of the adjusting nuts on the fork end of the cable. Both nuts should be on the back side of the fork so that the domed nut faces the fork and the other nut serves as jam or locknut to the domed nut.

The King Cobra I have has been very good and is easy to push down.

$1100 shipped with a pro 50 shifter from a dude on here Couldnt justify buying new when the one I bought is nearly brand new. Saved a good $600
