rechroming chrome rims?

is this possible? and would the price be thru the roof? my rims are a lil worse for wear and could use a new layer of chrome

I've seen it at about $125 per wheel. The thing is that they have to strip the wheel to the bare metal, polish it, copper plate it, polish THAT, nickel plate it, polish THAT, then chrome plate it and polish THAT. Plus you hafta figure in shipping.

I'm sure you could get a chrome layer added cheaper, but it prolly wouldn't last.

NOt worth it..
Because of the climate here in S FL, I cant find anyone that would do that.

what does weather have to do with chroming? seems like a lengthy expensive process tho forsure

Not the actual process, but the hot/humid/rainy weather is murder on chrome rims, and none of the shops will offer any kind of warranty on the work, and dont wanna be hasseled with problems is they occur.

I was looking into doing this for some older wheels, but I decided I'm gonna get new rims. Here is one site that offers chroming.

$500 plus shipping is kinda a lot just for re-chroming rims.
