What brand of tire do you guys recommend? As of right now, I have Cooper Zeon tires and my stang's in the need for a new set. I was thinking of just getting Cooper's again, but what are some other good tires for my Mustang? I used to drive an 86' but I had standard cheap tires on it and no mods done to my old car. Thanks, I'd appreciate it guys.

I've heard some cons of pirelli's, that they tend to heat up so much to the point where they begin to liquify driving at high speeds. Is this true or just some bs?

I can tell you what tire not to get, the Hankook ventus tires. More like Hankook traction preventus. They don't hook at all, crappy in the rain, and I wore them almost bald in 6 months, mostly under normal driving conditions. I do happen to like the Sumitomo htrz tire I have on the front of my car right now, I bought them over a year ago in florida and have over half tread left. I bought the Hakooks when I got to Cali and in 6 months they were gone.
I'm running bfg g-force sports right now and love'em. they are a great tire for the money with good grip and low noise. as for the pirellies, no way are those tires gona heat up to the point they liguify. pirellies, just like all performance tires come with an A temperature rating witch is the highest rating a tire can recieve. but they are not that great and cost way to much for what you end up with.

i loved my pirelli all seasons. they had great traction and i got the set for around $500 installed. i think im going to be getting them again. dont know anything about them liquifying...i hit 150 two times with them and didnt notice anything.

the BFG g-force sports are nice for the price. I have the 275's all the way around.
They wear evenly with rotation and have a good looking tread pattern.
Pirelli or BFG - made the switch to Pirellis from Michelin Pilots and its a completely different feel. They're much softer - feels like youre riding on a pocket of air - but you also burn through them a bit quicker...also had a set of Goodyear Eagles way back - burned through em in 8000 miles with my stock 215hp auto, which is pathetic, but they bought me a new set for $25/tire to make up for it - so obviously their customer service is up to par...
Another vote for the BFG G-force
I have learned over the years of buying tires, just to look at BFGs. The G-force's are great tires for the price.

You can't go wrong with G-Force tires. I am running Sumitomo on both cars and pretty pleased with them.
It sounds like BFGs are a winner. I'll look more into them and most likely get a new set of tires when I decide to get some rimslooking to get chrome dd bullitts for the rear, regular bullitts for the front...mmm
If you're getting wide deep-dish rear rims (ex. 10.5"), you may not find BFG G-Force Sport tires (or some other tires) wide enough.
I would recommend Nittos Drag's. They hook decent, and they last long. They also are decent in the rain if you have a DD.
I would also recommend BFG KDW or KDWS. Goodyear Eagle GSC..old brand, may not be able to buy anymore. I hear Corvette people will pay anything to get some. I sold 2 bald 275-40-R17 GSC's to a Corvette guy for 200 bucks!!!!HEHE

I am on my second set of Fuzions ZRi's 255/50/17 and I love them for the price less then $100 a corner.
Very good in the wet and dry also I got around 12k on the first set. I did change them a couple K early so I could have got 14-15K out of them.
They rated quite well in the tire tests too. So if you want a solid cheap tire I would take a look for yourself.

If you're very serious in cornering grip and all-around crazy hooking tires (mind you they won't last a while...) get some Bridgestone Potenza RE-01Rs. They're expensive as hell, don't last long at all (I'd say a year if you're a driver like most of us here...) but I'll be damned if they haven't beat the pants off of anything I've ever had, including KDWs and P-Zero Rossos. They're like drag radials with wet weather traction

Goodyear F1s came on a set of used Cobra rims that I picked up and have worn amazing so far for me, grip like hell on the street and even did decent at the track (2.1s @ the 60' mark). Been real happy with these. I just mounted Nitto DRs on my stock set of rims and to save the F1s from the harsh treating at the track. Personally wouldn't use them in the rain, as they look more like slicks than road tires, but hoping to get my 60's down a few tenths with them. They do look nice and beefy mounted up in 275/40/17 size on the 8" rim. It's true that the Nittos run a little narrow. Stock goodyear eagles, although decent looking, were one of the worst tires in terms of grip in the dry and rain that I've owned on a car in quite some time. Aftermarket FTW.
