Redo Deluxe Seats, or use my '94 seats

I have the deluxe interior package in my '66. I don't know if that has anything to do with the seats or not, but they're fairly nice. The problem is that the previous owner had it in a barn and mice made a nest out of both front seats. The whole back of the seats is just torn to shreds and the foam is half gone.

Should I get them redone, or should I use these '94 mustang seats I have? The DS power seat would be kinda cool, but I'd want to get them done up sometime soon as well.

I don't plan on building a total show or a total GO car, but i'd still like it to be nice. It'll have a decent amount of motor work and all, but I guess you could call it your average joe weekend cruiser. I just want to know what's worth it, and what's not.

It really depends on what you want. I've never sat in the late model seats myself but something tells me they offer way better support than the '66 seats we have. I plan on going the same route your thinking with late model car seats. I am looking at seats from a 2005+ Subaru Legacy though as that's my daily driver and they're super comfortable.

In the end though it's personal choice and you should go with which one you like better. It won't detract from value that much and if you totally don't want to lose value of the car then keep the other seats around just in case.

I have a set of recently redone '67 seats. I think the shop did a quite good job, including some work on the springs and new foam. They are not bad, but I'd likely put that money into more modern seats, reupholstered to imitate the '67 with comfortweave, if I had to do it all over again. I'm spoiled by the seats in my mid-1990s Audi, the difference in both comfort and keeping your butt and back in the proper place is just vast.

Check out http://forums.stangnet.com/788347-i-found-ultimate-junkyard-seats.html for a nice option. Also, some have been happy with the fiero seats and others like reen have done good looking things with the Procar Elites (IIRC).

I didn't have deluxe interior but I did put seats from a 94 Mustang in my 66. Had them wrapped in leather and love them. They do sit a bit higher though.

Try to get yourself a set of Mach 1 or Bullitt seats if you want a good seat with a classic look but modern comfort. They are the same seats with slighly different color schemes. The Bullitt ran in 01 only and the Mach 1's were 03-04. Geting a good set of used seats like those will provably be cheaper then redoing a set of junkyard seats in leather (if you want to use SN95 seats)

I say redo the deluxe pony interior. I'm assuming thats what it has. I don't really like the look of modern seats in classic Mustangs, especially 65-68.

If you have the SN95 seats or those Recaro/BMW seats recovered with the right patern they look like they are suppose to be there. The Bullitt/Mach 1 seats have a really nice and classic look to them already.

Use the 94 seats and recover them with the deluxe covers made by TMI that will match your existing interior.

I just bought the covers from Laurel Mountain Mustang (no plug for them they were just recommended as a company familiar with Fox body seats). for around $329.

They will match my 65 blue/white pony interior perfectly and give me a little more comfort / safety.

Just a thought.

If I understand you right, you had some SN95 seats and put deluxe seat covers on them ? Lets see some pics !

While I do have a set of SN95 seats, they're not what I'm using.

I picked up a set of 93 LX Fox body seats (the ones without the knee bolsters). I'd be happy to give you a pic but the seat covers won't be here for three weeks. Apparently the Fox body stuff isn't stocked.

I like those TMI sport seats. Does anyone know if they make those seats with standard upholstery to match my rear seat? Is it only available for 65-66 in Pony?

Check the TMI site. They have a fox body catalog. I believe they make all of the seat covers for up to 93 seats and then also for the ne 2005 up.

Thanks for the compliment on the car! Have any pics of yours?
