Remeber my car dies q? just a follow up (still dies).

For the most part, I went through the list jrichker posted for surging idle. Nothing. Im going to run codes today. The speedo doesnt work, im going to check that after I write this post. I have narrowed down exactly what happens: When I come to a stop with the clutch pushed to the floor, the rpms drop to 500 and come back up and stay at 700-750 (stock tach). If I put the tranny in neutral and hit the brakes, the idle stays at its normal 800ish, and it stays unnaffected. Also, when im sitting at a light, with the clutch to the floor, the RPMS stay still (the needle dont move) but the Volts bounce between 2 dashes (2nd and 3rd white one from the top, 3g alt). I have also noticed, from turning the wheel when the car died, that some power steering fluid splashed out onto the driver side fender. Right onto the starter solenoid and some of thos fuses down there, but I cleaned everyhitng up.

ANY ideas? This was initially just annoying, but its becoming dangerous because it has already cut out on me in the middle of a turn doing 40, making the steering wheel hard as a rock.

When you dump the codes, look for a code 27 or 29, VSS problem. The VSS is supposed to signal the computer to speed up the engine as you slow down to a stop.

Then clean the IAC AND electrical contacts real good. Don't forget that the IAC wiring runs through the 10 pin salt & pepper shaker connectors, so clean them too.

Hey consider yourself lucky...

Mine does it without rhyme or reason, idling, driving, jumping, dragging... And I've replaced everything!!! Ofcourse it may have something to do with the fact that I was running 75psi of fuel pressure till I put the guage on it and found out. Haven't run it since... too cooold outside.

Any who, try the solonoid, wires to and from it. Check the distributer, test the control module (autozone), and there's a little sensor in the dist. that will go out. Check your vacuum lines and upper to lower intake gasket for leaks and kinks in the hoses. I've had all of those problems before. peace
