I'm looking into putting remote activated door lock actuators in for my doors and trunk. What size seloniod does it take to open a 67 fastbacks doors? In terms of pounds? 15lbs? 35lbs? How about the trunk. Has anyone ever shaved their door handles and used a remote actuator to open them along with the trunk? I did see a kit on www.rodncustom.com/parts_dep/rod_n_cst/DakDig.htm., do you think this will do the job? Thanks for any help. Dan

i did. used the vpa kit from summitracing. the 15lb solenoids are good for the mustangs. the kit from VPA is really good and reasonably priced. i didn't get all the fancy stuff just two remotes, reciever, solenoids and wiring and cableing. i added the trunk solenoid for 20 bucks and it came with all the stuff to interface with the door kit.

I have only used MES 5-wire door locks. The are European style and swiss made inaddition, the are switch-less and easy to interface into an alarm system. For instance when I hit the arm button it automatically locks the doors and rolls up the windows. Also when I use my ket to unlock the door, the passenger side is also unlocked, put the car in any gear other than park, the doors lock, etc. The five wire gives you a bunch more options than a two wire.

My dad did an electric lock conversion for me using Volvo actuators from the junkyard. He also found a bolt-in electric trunk release at the junkyard, it came as an option on '70s model Fords/Mercurys/Lincolns. To make it all remote, he just wired it up with the security system which has the remote lock option.

Hope this helps.
