Last weekend, my trunk release start to behaving in an interesting manner. Instead of one "pop" and the trunk was open, it now makes noise as if it is being activated about 20 times in very rapid succession. The trunk will still open no problem, just weird that it is making this noise.

I have a short video that shows what is happening. http://www.mikuhl.net/corral/trunk.MOV

Any ideas?

Sounds like the motor is bad, like the gears are grinding. It may continue to work for awhile like that, but not for longterm. I'd get it replaced.
