Removal of trim. (Body guys come in)

Well, I think in the spring my Notch is going to become black! (So is the int)Or be resprayed TF at least. When i send my baby off to the paint shop, it is most likely going to be towed because I want to remove as much as I can before I send it out to them. I want to remove the antenna, all the lights, roll the fenders and finally remove all the trim.

How can I go about this safely? Removing the trim Im reffering to. I kno at the base of the widnsheild (on the cowl) it pops out, what about the rest? any tools I need and tips would be great! thanks guys!

I just painted my car and had to go through all the trim crap so I'll let you know what I remember untill someone else comes along. Keep in mind I have an 86 so the trim may be different...I don't really know. Anyway for the trim around the windshield and hatch glass they do make a tool to get it off but I just used two screwdrivers and carefully popped each little tab off. That is the only tool you would need that I know of. The drip rails are just one screw (open the door and look around...I don't know if weatherstripping covers it seeings how mine was off at the time) and then you pull and wiggle it off. Those are filled with some nasty stuff. The window cleaner felt things kinda just slide and pull off too. The body molding was a pain to get off, it peels off and leaves behind a gummy residue from the tape that holds it on. I had to grind all the crap off with a DA. Well anyway, I hope this helps a little.

As far as the trim along the windshield goes there is a tool to use but it can be done with screwdrives but be careful. As far as the body moulding goes I'm not sure. I need to figure that out also as its peeling a little on my passenger door.

I use a heat gun for the body trim in my dad's body shop and for the windshield trim get it started with a screwdriver and pull it out. Don't worry if you wreck it tou can get trim at most dealerships or windshield shops fairley cheap
