Removing a Procharger PISC

What is involved in removing the head unit from an 02 GT? Is it a project or not much of a big a deal? I need to remove it and send back to PC to be resealed. Thanks.

Take off the discharge tubes/inlet tubes. Take the belt off (of the supercharger pulley), remove the 6 or so bolts holding the p1sc onto the supercharger bracket, then pull it off.

indeed. But take care to note any spacers on the unit or the bracket. my procharger takes every opportunity to gobble belts due to alignment issues.

Thanks guys. Can I access the bolts from the engine bay. I can't get underneath the car. The Stang is in a remote storage garage or I'd walk out and take a look.

I've instlled/removed my procharger on my 99 gt several times and never had to get beneath the car, should be easy enough. the hardest part that I've found for me is the belt removal. the rest is cake!

It may be easier to take the belt of another pulley then remove the headunit with the bracket still on. The bolts that hold my head unit to the bracket are facing the motor. The three mounting points of the bracket to the motor are accessible from the top. Just my 2 cents.

I had some help from friend that has a belt tensioner tool. We relieved the tension...removed the Blower and bracket together. The blower is on it's way for repair to PC. I'll follow up with their service and the re-installation.

P1SC is back on the Stang and seems to tracking ok. The seals were replaced. We took our time...used a torque wrench...we'll see how it goes from here. Thanks for you help.

I assumed shipping to Procharger. The cost to reseal and re-ship to me was $433.

Nice work, I chanced it with mine and tore into my p1sc and replaced a seal...so far so good...

ive found procharger belts are garbage, go to your local store and get you a belt. also a new tensioner. belt slippage will glaze the belt over real fast..

Unit leaked slightly after being resealed. I just had the drain plug O ring replaced. Now the unit leaks from I do not know where & has a bearing noise. I'm just about done with Procharger. Nothing but aggravation time and money wise. I'm not recommending PC to anyone. I blame myself...I was warned in advance they have ongoing problems with leaking oil.

I might have someone local try to rebuild the unit or I'm going to remove and live without it. I do not want to put more $$$ into the Stang but if I get crazy enough I'll try a different blower system or Turbo.

If you sent if off to get resealed, did the whole unit get done or just certain parts? Is there any warranty on there work? Thats a bummer, usually I hear they leak due to overfilling of the oil.

Every seal was replaced (as per the invoice). Warranties are worthless if it keeps going back. Was not over filled. Level was checked very carefully.

Here is something to think about. If the Unit was no good from the beginning...what can PC do to make it any better the 2nd and 3rd time.

Someone in assembly may have made a mistake or used a damaged seal without knowing. I would hope they test a repaired unit if they charge $433 to do it. You should call them and complain - get their UPS account number and ship it to them collect and have them do it again and make it right - or you could sell it to me for $433 to recoup that money!

That's it in a nutshell, my friend. I had to send my Paxton 2000 back to the factory 2 years ago for the same thing. What are they charging you? It cost me $425, plus shipping and insurance. Boy was I relieved!!

I find ATI stands behind their products and service, give them a call. I also have found running a little less oil then recommended works wonders.

They said it was tested before sending back to me.

There should be enough room in the unit to allow for expansion. If you are boiling the oil then that is another situation altogether. A breather is another something you would have to worry about leaking - not just from expansion but from slosh. I don't think that you should go and reinvent the wheel.
Is there no one that could pull the unit and ship it back for you? While I am sure that they will make good on it, I think your going to have much more of a battle if you wait until spring to do it.. You wait too long you will likely have to pay to do it again and it does not sound like you will be pleased with that.

Roger on the breather. As far as returning the unit back to PC. I'm finished with them for now. I'll try to have someone rebuild it locally or I might remove it. Too much agg. I have no faith in their(PC) workmanship. A time to fold. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
