Removing Emblems/ Badges

The GT badge on the decklid is the only one that doesn't have alignment dowels, and consequently, holes, behind it. All of the rest of the badges have holes. I just ripped the decklid GT badge off of mine on a whim yesterday. Spent about 20 minutes picking the double sided tape off, and rubbing the glue off with my thumb. It would have been alot easier with goo-gone and some dental floss. That's the best way I have found to remove badges, personally. Douse the badge with goo-gone, trying to get most of it between the badge and the car. Let it set for 5 minutes, then work a long piece of dental floss back and forth between the badge and the car. It will separate the tape from either the car or the badge. Just work your way around the badge in circles, because you can't go straight across. Eventually, you should be able to wiggle it free. All of the badges aside from the one I mentioned have two holes behind them in the car.

i removed the "GT" fender badges on my car using a heat gun, razor blade and a rubber disc "eraser" on a drill to remove the old adhesive.

it worked great for me but i'm sure there's an easier way, goo-gone and floss being one.


not sure where you got your conflicting stories but every 99-04 Mustang has two alignment holes on every badge but the "GT" out back

I removed my "GT" emblems recently and I used some nylon kite string which worked great. Next time I'll have some of that "Goo-Gone" on hand too. I did try the dental floss but it broke a lot, the light string worked better.
