Got new pedals and have to remove the stocker. Before I do what seems to be simple, I want to make sure before I BREAK something (again...)

Do I just tap out the little rod holding the foot pedal in place? If not, is there some sort of release I have to push in or something? About the last thing I need right now is no gas pedal, so I would like to keep it all unbroken
