removing trim peices -help

on a 1990 lx, do the trim peices on the outside of the car slide off or are they glued? what would be the best way to take them off? (have to get to some rust thats runs under them) thanks.

Which trim? At the bottom of the windows? There is a small screw inside the door area and then the trim slides back and pulls up.

no, its the plastic peices that run from the front bumper, along the door and quarter panels and to the bumper.

That is called body side moulding. The 4 pieces that are closest to the bumper covers have studs that go through the fenders and speed nuts. Take off the speed nuts. The others are mounted with mounting tape. Take a fishing line, piano wire, or a PVC pipe cutter to go through the tape. Be careful not to bend the mouldings so they will not warp.

For $10, I'll also tell you the best way to clean them up and put them back on.

I used a guitar string and a hair dryer to get mine off my 84..
