Replacement Springs

So here's the deal. The previous owner to the Stang had it in storage for 3 years and didn't drive it, and after I became owner I realize that the front drivers spring had become rusty and began to break in half. Well, the coil is entirely rusted through now and it probably isn't safe to put it on the road that way, so I'm looking for an inexpensive set of lowering springs. I don't want to have to replace anything but the springs, so once their in I just want to take it to an alignment shop and have them set it on the stock CC plates and have it all work alright.

I was looking at the Ford B springs and they fit the price bill and probably the right amount to lower without needing other parts, what do you guys think? Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

The B's might drop it a decent bit. Something like Mach 1's might be a bit closer to the stock ride height if that's what you're after.

i have the ford C springs and I really like them. Lowered my car more than i thought it would plus u can't beat the price(120 at gefracing). I think the difference between the C and B is that the B is a progressive spring. Not sure what the pros/cons of this are though.

If you are talking about the black GT with Saleen rims, I would spend some money and get some C/C plates and some H&R Super Sports.
That would look awesome.

From my understanding the progressive spring rate is a more street friendly spring while the C spring is more suited for something like autocrossing.

JT, do you know where I can look up some Mach 1 springs?

I wouldn't mind a drop of 1 1/4", per say, so long as I don't have to add anything else. I just bought all that driveline stuff in my sig so my wallet is almost spent

Though I have not experienced B's, your statement about them being progressive is correct. It's a neat way to do things if the rates are progressive enough.

For Mach 1's, they can be had new for under 200 beans IIRC. There's one guy on ebay whom sells new Mach 1 suspension stuff; several guys have bought from him. I haven't scoped his prices in quite awhile though. And if buying used (as I did, for the fox), the springs go for around 100 beans. A few folks in here run the Mach's - I'd check out stance pictures to get an idea of how they look.

You might want to take a gander at this info. I think it really helps narrow things down a bit (though note that atleast on foxes, which is apples and oranges to SN's to start with, the amount of drop from the B's and C's seems to be underrated).

I have a Prokit on the '94 and it's as far as I'd drop a car without using CC plates (I do have a little neg camber and some bump steer as it is). I really like the springs though. You can score those used for $100-150 shipped. If buying new, as mentioned, the alphabet springs are a very nice price. You really could almost pay for some used CC plates with the savings, if needed.

My brother actually has a Mach 1, and I think the stance is nice, but I would like a little bit more drop than that. Thanks for that link, that has some great info. The Eibach kit that you mentioned has the same stats as the B spring, except that it drops the rear more. I'm going to take a look around and see what I can find as far as prices go. More money will come as Summer goes on and I never like to go cheap on anything, but I can't afford to leave myself with no buck in the bank either. Thanks a lot for all that info, I appreciate it

i liked the eibach pro-kit i had on my last mustang. I'm pretty sure i have the c-springs now in this car but not sure. either way you go, you really should get c/c plates to properly align the front end. You'll wear your tires if you don't. so either you buy c/c plates now or tires later, its your choice

im gettin the bullitt kit. its $400 for sway bars, shocks/struts, and springs. lowers our cars about an inch. plus, its not (shouldnt) going need cc plates

Interesting. Can you give me a link? If I can get sway bars, shocks/struts, and springs for less than just springs and CC plates (by about $100 too...), then I'm probably game.
