I bough a 91 LX 5.0 off a friend after he rear eneded an explorer. The air bag went off and I was wondering what you have to do to have air bags working again and the light to go off...

I can get an replacement air bag cheap, but do I need new sensors in the front or any other parts? Thanks for any input.

I don't really care if I have air bags because my 89 doesn't but I don't think I will pass VA saftey inspection with the air bag light on. I wonder if I can just remove the light blub inside the gauge cluster?

If you buy a steering wheel off of ebay that already has the airbag in it, then it should be just a matter of bolting on and hooking up the new steering. ("should be" as in I've never done it, nor don't know anyone who has.)

I have an airbag I just took off my 90, don't know what it's worth. Replacing the bag is just unbolt/unplug then put the new one in.

My blue box is under the stereo, no light and no beeping finally. Why is there so many dang wires going into that box?

About the blue box

New guy here. I just got a 91 LX 5.0 and have the same problem with the beeping. I took the blue box out, and the IC inside is stamped "air bag diagnostics".

My question is, does anyone know FOR SURE that there is no harm in just disconnecting the box to stop the beeping?

Thanks in advance.

Talk about thread resurection.

I think that box is near the center console on the driver side under the dash but I could be wrong.

Putting in an airbag is hard, you need to have a pro do it.
...and that is bunk info. Just make sure to disconnect the battery 20 minutes or so before attempting to remove it and you will be fine. 4 10mm nuts on the back of the wheel and its off, done it many times. Respect it but don't be scared to do it.
